Our experienced design team specialise in electrical generation, transmission, and micro-grid/standalone systems, and is led by Geoff Mitchell. Managed by Maarten Noordzy, our costing, scheduling, and execution team has extensive experience with the first principles approach. Our business development is managed by Murray Bathgate, who has a wealth of experience in the power industry and a true understanding of the key drivers for success.

Utilising the Early Contractor Engagement or Involvement (ECI) model, we progress each project through a methodical and staged process.

This process includes, as a minimum, the following steps:

Engage with the community to determine the scope
Determine if there are any local contractors we can utilise
Carry out the design of the project
Obtain approval from Key Stakeholders (including the community that we are servicing)
Carry out detailed costings and schedules
Meet with key stakeholders to go through the costings and schedule to gain an understanding of the project – provide an open book.
Gain approval to proceed (go-no-go gate)

The 1st Principals Energy team provide support from approval to execution, and beyond.

Once a project is operational, we also provide ongoing solutions: operation and maintenance of the power plant for a period of 5 years, followed by transfer back to the owner at no upfront capital cost. Independent Power Provider (IPP) model to be utilised.

We aim to engage with the local community and train suitable people to maintain and fix the plant should the need arise. In doing so, we hope to also play a role in closing the gap and empowering the community.
